Raising the Roof and funds for charity!
A capacity audience at St Mary’s Church, Rimpton, on Friday 16th June, were captivated by the resounding voices of the Ad Hoc Singers – and the fundraising proceeds of their performance were very kindly donated to Sherborne Food Bank.
Formed in 2015, the Ad Hoc Singers brought together a few basses and tenors from the Benefice Choir of the parishes of Ashington, Chilton Cantelo, Marston Magna, Mudford and Rimpton to sing secular songs for fun with the incomparable Brenda Sherring accompanying them on the piano.
This quintet of robust male voices greatly entertained with songs ranging from Sweet Charity to Flanders & Swann. In the process, they raised both the rafters of the 13th Century Church and over £400 for the essential work of the Food Bank which delivered emergency free food and household goods to over 5,200 people in Sherborne, and its surrounding villages, in 2022.
So a huge thank you from Sherborne Food Bank and its clients for the sublime entertainment of the Ad Hoc Singers and the generosity of their rapturous audience!
